TikTok engagement rate calculator

Type a TikTok creator’s average views, likes and comments and get their engagement rate by views and by followers, with the sum written out. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

This calculator doesn't look up TikTok accounts, so type the numbers in. Open the creator's profile, take their last 10 to 12 videos, and average the views, likes and comments on them.

Average per video, over their last 10 to 12 videos. Use the same videos for every box.

How the rate is worked out

(likes + comments) ÷ views × 100

  1. Take the last 10 to 12 videos. Leave pinned videos out: they are often a creator’s biggest hits and sit at the top of the profile for months.
  2. Average the views, likes and comments. Add each one up and divide by the number of videos.
  3. Divide likes plus comments by views. Then multiply by 100. That is the rate by views: how many of the people who watched did something.
  4. Read the rate by followers as a second number. On TikTok, followers say little about who sees the next video, so this one is context, not the verdict.

Why views, not followers

TikTok's For You feed shows a video to people who have never followed the creator. A creator with 200,000 followers can post a video that 15,000 people see, and one with 8,000 followers can post one that a million people see. Dividing by followers mixes the two up.

The steadier signal is the median views of recent videos, what we call Real Reach, and the share of those viewers who act. For how follower reach falls as accounts grow on TikTok, see the Real Reach Report.

What it does not tell you

An engagement rate says viewers are active. It does not say whether they match your customers, or what a sponsored video is worth to your store. The influencer ROI calculator works that out from your conversion rate and order value. For why a single target rate misleads, see what is a good engagement rate.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate engagement rate on TikTok?

Take a creator’s last 10 to 12 videos, leaving out pinned ones. Average the views, likes and comments. Add the average likes and comments, divide by the average views and multiply by 100. A creator averaging 25,000 views, 1,800 likes and 200 comments has a rate by views of 8%.

Should TikTok engagement rate use views or followers?

Views. TikTok’s For You feed shows videos to people who do not follow the creator, so a video’s audience can be much larger or much smaller than the follower count. The rate by views measures the people who actually watched. Acurrate rates TikTok creators this way inside the product.

Why can’t I look up a TikTok account here?

This free calculator looks up Instagram and YouTube accounts only. For TikTok, open the creator’s profile: views show on each video in the grid, and likes and comments show when you open a video. Average them over the last 10 to 12 videos and type them in.

Do you count shares and saves?

No. The rate here counts likes and comments, the same as our Instagram and YouTube calculators, so a rate means the same thing on all three. Some tools add shares and saves, which gives a higher number for the same creator. When you compare tools, check what each one counts.

What if one video went viral?

Leave it out, or the average will describe a video the creator rarely makes. One video with ten times the usual views lifts an average over a dozen videos by three quarters. Inside Acurrate we use the median, the typical video, for the same reason.

Is it free, and is anything stored?

It is free with no account and no email, and nothing is sent to us: the numbers you type stay in your browser.
