AcurrateBrandScan
AcurrateBrandScan is how Acurrate reads a store's own website. When a business signs up to Acurrate and gives us its website, we read a few of its public pages once to understand what it sells, so we can recommend creators who fit it.
When it visits
- Only when the website's owner, or their team, adds that website in Acurrate or asks us to read it again.
- It reads the home page, an about page, the public product catalog and the images on those pages: a handful of requests, once.
- It does not crawl the web, follow links to other sites, or come back on a schedule.
How to recognize it
- The User-Agent contains
AcurrateBrandScan/1.0and links to this page. - Every request is signed with Web Bot Auth (HTTP Message Signatures). The
Signature-Agentis"https://www.acurrate.com"and our public keys are athttps://www.acurrate.com/.well-known/http-message-signatures-directory.
robots.txt
It reads robots.txt before anything else and obeys the rules for AcurrateBrandScan, or for * when there are none for us. To keep it out of a whole site:

AcurrateCatalog
A separate reader, AcurrateCatalog/1.0, reads a few public pages of brands that creators have worked with, so we can describe those brands. It is never signed and never presents itself as AcurrateBrandScan. It reads robots.txt first and obeys the rules for AcurrateCatalog, or for *. To keep it out: User-agent: AcurrateCatalog / Disallow: /.
